Rakesh Bedi Addresses Viral Video Controversy at Dhurandhar Trailer Launch
At Lative COLOURS of fashion, we believe that conversations around cinema often go beyond style and glamour—and this week, Bollywood found itself at the centre of one such discussion.
Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi recently responded to the backlash surrounding a viral video from the trailer launch event of Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated film Dhurandhar. The video showed Bedi sharing a brief affectionate moment with his co-star Sara Arjun, which sparked widespread debate on social media.
Clarifying the situation, Rakesh Bedi explained that the gesture was purely paternal and affectionate, taken out of context by viewers online. In the film, Sara Arjun plays his daughter, and according to the actor, their off-screen rapport mirrors their on-screen relationship.
“Sara is less than half my age and plays my daughter in the film. During the shoot, she would often greet me with a hug, just like a daughter does with her father. That affection was mistaken by people,” he shared in an interview.
He further added that there was no ill intent behind the gesture and questioned why such moments are misinterpreted, especially when the event was public and attended by Sara’s parents as well.
“If someone chooses to see affection with a distorted lens, there’s little one can do,” Bedi remarked, addressing the criticism.
The actor also emphasized that he was not trying to defend himself but simply stating facts. Reflecting on his long-standing career, he mentioned how meaningful interactions with fans continue to define his journey more than fleeting controversies ever could.
